A Bit About Me

Dr. Martin grew up in the town of California in Missouri on a cattle farm. From a young age she was involved with agriculture and FFA. Her family farms and many family members are also agriculture educators. It is this background that sparked Dr. Martin's interest in animals, animal husbandry, and food production. As a child, Dr. Martin accumulated many pets (cats, dogs, chickens, bottle calves, sheep and goats) and enjoyed caring for them. After realizing the important role veterinarians play in not only animal health, but also agriculture, Dr. Martin has continued to pursue this career path.

Martin attended the University of Missouri for her undergraduate studies where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science. She also completed minors in Agriculture Leadership and Entrepreneurship. Throughout her academic pursuits, she was recognized as a Hagan Scholar and inducted into the Omicron Delta Kappa Society. Dr. Martin then went on to attend the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine where she was awarded the Banfield Endowed Scholarship in honor of Dr. James Nave. Her remarkable leadership skills were acknowledged with the Kennedy Entrepreneurial Award. Additionally, she demonstrated exceptional proficiency and interest in ophthalmology, earning her the Harlen E. Jensen Ophthalmology Award. Finally, Dr. Martin was also recognized for her innovative approach to veterinary medicine with the Merck Animal Health Student Innovation Award.

Special interests of Dr. Martin include surgery, dentistry, ophthalmology, and end-of-life care/hospice. And her passion is providing people with the knowledge they need to make the best choices for their pets. "I enjoy educating and spending time with people so they can better understand medicine and their pets needs."

Dr. Martin has two tabby cats, Alvin and Lionel, who she adopted while in veterinary school. In her free time, Dr. Martin enjoys fishing, camping, cheering on the Chiefs (Eagles fans please be nice), and trying new food and drinks.

" Our doctor, Libby Martin, was incredibly helpful and worked with us to find a solution to our pets issue. She was a great listener and takes the pet owner's considerations into account. She went above and beyond for us. Definitely the best vet I've ever worked with and she deserves the credit! "
