Planning the euthanasia of a pet you have loved and who has been part of your family for so many years is undoubtedly one of the most difficult times of your life. Ending or preventing a pet’s suffering is the most important gift a pet owner can bestow. We make every effort to make this difficult time easier for you and your family and to make it peaceful for your faithful friend. For many pet owners, even thinking about their pet’s final days is difficult and emotional. Our pets are a part of our family. It is this strong bond, born from years of loyal companionship that makes this time particularly hard to bear.

We encourage you to talk with our veterinary team about these issues before they become an urgent matter. Find out about your options including cremation and grief counseling, make some key decisions ahead of time and ask us to add this information to your pet’s record. Taking the time to plan, as challenging as it may be, will lessen the pain and stress for you and your pet.

In the days, weeks, or months leading up to your pet’s final day, you can rely on our veterinarians to provide you with the support and information you need to make informed choices each step of the way.

All of us at Pennsauken Animal Hospital will do our best to help you prepare for these important issues with the compassion and sensitivity they require.

Below are two helpful resources as you navigate knowing when's is the right time.

"Incredibly compassionate and kind staff. They were there for us through every step of an urgent euthanasia that our family wasn't expecting or prepared for. Felt seen, heard, and cared about, like they actually valued us and our pet's life and our shared memories more then money. Kinda rare, highly recommend"

Arielle P.

"We went there to have my 13yr old rotti put to sleep. They were extremely compassionate. They gave us plenty of time with gabbie before and after. They were also extremely reasonable with their price."

John H.

"Today I had to put the most lovable pup down. He was over 13 years but unable to stay on his feet and lumps all over. The staff here was so very compassionate and caring. They gave us plenty time to adjust and treated our Tangles like he was the only dog in the world."
