A Bit About Me
Dr. Anna Kay Gierow is an accomplished Associate Veterinarian whose journey began in the heart of Huntsville, Alabama. Inspired by her mother's passion for rescuing animals, Anna's love for animals and dedication to their welfare led her naturally to a career in veterinary medicine. From a young age, she was committed to making a difference, volunteering at a local animal hospital and the humane society before working as a kennel assistant at just 15.

Anna pursued her undergraduate studies in Animal Science at Auburn University, where she excelled both academically and athletically, earning several scholarships and honors, including the Auburn University Athletic Scholarship for Track and Field. Her passion for animal care and research continued through her roles at Auburn Animal Hospital and as an Undergraduate Research Scholar at Auburn University’s swine unit. She further honed her skills at Huntsville Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Hospital.

In 2025, Anna graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, having actively contributed to various projects such as the Ross University Feral Cat Project and Oklahoma State University’s Operation CatSnip. Her professional interests encompass emergency and critical care, surgery, behavior, shelter medicine, and dermatology.

Anna finds immense satisfaction in making a meaningful impact on the lives of animals and their families. She believes that compassion and empathy are crucial in this profession, not only for determining treatment but also for building trust and offering support. Her approach is always mindful of clients' financial realities, ensuring clear communication and respect for their decisions.

Dr. Gierow shares her life with her beloved adopted pets: Karly, a German Shepherd; Joey, a Pit Bull mix; Stevee, a Lab mix; and Beep, a tuxedo domestic shorthair cat. Outside of her professional life, Anna enjoys traveling the world, engaging in outdoor activities with her animals, horseback riding, skateboarding, running, and spending quality time with family and friends. She began her role at Pennsauken Animal Hospital & Urgent Care in Fall 2025, where she continues to bring her expertise and compassion to every patient and client she encounters.
